It’s been quite a while since I’ve written anything in this blog. I’m sorry.
So, just a few updates on what I have been doing:
First, I have been doing more conventions, including FanX in Salt Lake City, and Comicpalooza down in Houston. Those were both some amazing experiences!
FanX: I had an incredible time. I met some new fans, sold some books, but, most important to me, I got to speak with readers. People who have read my books came back to talk to me! Now, this might not be an incredible thing to most people, but since I am so new to the author scene, speaking with actual readers helps me know you.
I spoke with many people; some who appreciated A Campfire Nightmare more, and others who love Titan. Either way, I was happy just to see you again.
Comicpalooza: This was my first convention outside of Utah, and I have to say that it was one of the most fantastic experiences of my life. Boy, I met some of the greatest people down in Texas, and I hope to be able to visit them often.
Just a really quick shout out, my booth was right next to Reverend Butters and his friend Bull. These two guys are ice sculptors who use chainsaws and chisels! How freaking cool is that? (no pun intended). They were some of the nicest and coolest guys I’ve ever met and their families were extremely fun to meet and converse with. (Check them out online, they have some seriously sick stuff.)
Now, as for the show, I got to know what the people of Texas are like and, I have to say, they are some of the nicest and most supportive people I have ever met. By the end, I started pricing out houses and packing my bags to move down there!
I have some big news coming. The second books of the Nightmare serious is on its way! Broken Treaty will be on its ways to the editors this week. I’m hoping for an August release date, but we all know that the system can be a little fickle. So, just in time for the next round of conventions, you can pick up A Campfire Nightmare’s sequel!
I will be trying to do a book tour throughout the Fall in honor of its release, I’ll just see who all is interested in me coming!
I am so excited to follow up my first book, and I hope that the readers are ready to find out more about what happens to Jimmy, Michael, Kylee, Dani, Rox, and Moose. You’re about to open a whole new world.
I have noticed that I am getting more and more new and up- and-coming authors coming up to me for advice, and I am more than happy that they are asking. But, I fear that my words aren’t getting out there for everyone to hear.
So, I am going to try and take questions I am being asked and write them down here in my blog and give my best advice. Some of these will be incredibly personal, but I think that people should know that we authors are normal people who struggle with our own problems.
Throughout my life, I have met many others who are struggling with some of the subjects I have, or will, address and we have discussed these at length. I might, soon, start having guest bloggers help me with advice and showcase new talent in the world. Because we all matter, and if I can’t get you the knowledge that you’re looking for, I bet I know someone who can provide it.
For now, keep reading, keep following and keep watching for updates!
Take care and let’s watch out for one another.
P.s. To answer an old question from a friend, no I don’t really go through these with a fine tooth comb and edit it… these are my thoughts and I get to make fun of myself for all my misspellings and word use. Hey, if I didn’t make a mistake, why would I need an editor? hehehe
